West Quay Shopping Centre selects Morley-IAS by Honeywell for robust trouble-free fire safety

Upgraded ZXSe-based fire detection and alarm system incorporates latest Visualeyez graphics to provide comprehensive protection for Southampton shopping mall

Burgess Hill, Sussex, October 2011: Morley-IAS by Honeywell distribution partner, Southern Fire Alarms Ltd. (SFA), has installed a Morley-IAS ZXSe-based fire detection and alarm system, to provide the best in fire safety at Southampton's prestigious West Quay shopping centre.

The upgraded Morley-IAS system incorporates six networked ZX5Se panels, together with the latest Visualeyez graphics workstation. "The Visualeyez system provides essential support for staff managing alarm activation for this large public venue," confirms Ollie Reynolds of SFA.

The system presents important 'what has happened and where' information simply and clearly in both graphical and text formats, enabling West Quay staff to quickly locate, understand and respond to any fire-related incident that arises. In addition, it provides management tools which ensure effective maintenance planning and false alarm prevention, as well as analysing key information on alarms, faults and other non-fire events.

SFA has been the service provider at West Quay for five years and has continuing responsibility for providing maintenance services. The recognised flexibility of both the Morley-IAS equipment and the SFA team was reinforced throughout the installation period, in ensuring that the fire alarm system remained operational at all times and that potentially costly false alarms and other interruptions were avoided.

"Morley-IAS systems are ideally designed for demanding commercial environments such as West Quay," believes Keith Minster, business manager UK & Ireland, Morley-IAS by Honeywell. "They are highly cost-effective, trouble free to install and maintain and are future-proofed in meeting the evolving needs of the development."

The West Quay development, which originally opened in September 2000, provides 800,000 sq ft of retail space and hosts around 100 shops including many leading high street retailers.
